High heels have been evolving throughout time. This evolution took place in the earlier than the 14th century. Are there other people before the 14th century that made us of high heels? The answer to this question is uncertain. There may have been but there’s no particular research to back it up. Check out some early origins of high heels below:
Before stilettos and pumps became the shoes that we know today, they have been used as tool by some of the unlikeliest people. There are those that say high heels were worn by prostitutes not for the style but rather for attracting customers and beating competition.
During the reign of King Louie the XIV, he was so in love with high heels that he had made red bottom high heels his signature. It sounds pretty cool but come to think of it, he would had your head chopped off if he saw you wearing a pair of red bottom high heels. Not such a good thing to do back then.
After quite some time, high heels were in and out of fashion until the mid-1950 where the contemporary high heels was born. It was during this time, women started to know high heels and the fashion industry instantly fell in love with the concept of wearing high heels.
